My analysis on these awards.

Best Picture - No problems here at all. The more love No Country for Old Men gets the better. I completely loved the film, and hope it takes Best Picture.

Best Director - Julian Schnabel, eh? Well, I must say the response this film is getting is beyond whatever I could’ve imagined. I’m glad this film is being praised, and hopefully it is fantastic. I have high hopes for it.

Best Actor in a Leading Role - It looks like Langella is going to have a great year with critics. After the Independent Spirit Awards nominees were announced, I thought he’d not only win that, but go on to get a few - but not many - other critics awards. Looks like I was proven wrong once again. Let’s hope his performance is all substance and not overblown.

Best Actress in a Leading Role - Marion Cotillard. One of the best performances of the year, and certainly one of the most deserving winners of this critic award. Considering my top two for this category (cotillard is my #3) have virtually no chance at this award, I will certainly be pulling for her.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Javier Bardem, Javier Bardem, Javier Bardem. Probably this years ‘lock’ if there is one. Any awards he gets before the Oscars are just more fuel to this already humongous fire.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role - This win could be brought on by the prejudice of the city. It could also be brought on by the love the critics are giving this performance. Personally, I did enjoy her in Gone Baby Gone, but not enough to even consider her for a nomination. This will be the overrated performance of 2007, sadly.

Best Cinematography - The movie looks very beautiful, but from what I’ve heard it’s win is very unworthy. Only time will tell, and my opinion will be formed.

Best Screenplay - A very interesting choice. Brad Bird wins the second screenplay award of the year? Ratatouille could be bigger than we imagined. Though, I seriously doubt it will get a Best Picture nomination.

Best Documentary - This movie looks very ‘interesting’ to say the least. It’s win is very unique. For I doubt any other critics will give this film a win.

Best Foreign Language Film - Surprisingly *sarcasm* The Diving Bell and the Butterfly won. Sadly, this gives us absolutely no insight into the Foreign Feature category. Seeing as how this film is not eligible for Best Foreign Feature, and this win only tells us ‘look, this movie is good’. Yeah, we get it.

Best New Filmmaker - Ben Affleck? I wouldn’t say he’s a new filmmaker, but yes, a new director is still new in filmmaking. A very deserving choice, and most likely my choice for this category. Fantastic work on Gone Baby Gone.

Best Ensemble Cast - Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead? There are many other deserving choices for the category, but I can see why they’d say this. A fantastic cast who brings their A game to the table to create a realistic portrayal of a tragic event.
