My thoughts on the winners:
Best Picture - I love the No Country for Old Men love, but three weeks into these critic awards, and No Country for Old Men has no competition. Other than There Will Be Blood’s two wins, NCfOM has destroyed the competitors.
Best Actor in a Leading Role - Daniel Day-Lewis’ win puts him in front of Clooney… for now. We really do not have a decisive ‘#1′ yet. We must wait until the Golden Globes are announced to know who’s looking to be the winner.
Best Actress in a Leading Role - I think it’s fairly safe to say that Christie is most likely to win, as of now. I only wish other than Page, Cotillard and Christie would win.
Best Actor in a Supporting Role - And the Oscar goes to…
Best Actress in a Supporting Role - An interesting win, indeed. Tilda’s first win of the competition comes late in the game, but it’s nice to see someone else other than Ryan and Blanchett win.
Best Director - Bye and bye, it’s expected that No Country for Old Men will win. With this, don’t too the Coens solidify a spot as the #1 in this category? I think so.
Best Screenplay - Huzzah for Cody. Her win streak continues, and hopefully it slingshoots her into the win for both the Golden Globe and the Oscar.
Best Cinematography - A wonderful job by Deakins in both No Country for Old Men and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. I’m glad he’s winning, as his cinematography in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is my #2 of the year.
Best Animated Feature - Yet again, Ratatouille wins. Not that I’m angry about it’s undefeated streak, but I’m getting quite bored of this category.
