My thoughts on the winners:
Best Picture - Yay. I’m sure it’s getting on people’s nerves that No Country for Old Men is winning so much. I am getting I bit tired of it myself - seeing as everyone knows that it’s locked for a nomination. OH well, hopefully the upcoming awards will be a bit more ‘interesting’.
Best Director - See above.
Best Actor in a Leading Role - As I’ve said before, it’s neck and neck between Day-Lewis and Clooney as far as critic love comes. This just makes it more frustrating, seeing as how Clooney won runnerup.
Best Actress in a Leading Role - I think that Christie is going to win… So much love right now makes it hard to believe otherwise. Glad to see her performance is being loved. I, for one, don’t give her a nomination, but I do like to see her get recognition.
Best Actor in a Supporting Role - …wow. Bardem’s win is becoming more certain by the day, isn’t it?
Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Amy Ryan’s love is overwhelming… I cannot comprehend everyone’s love for her. This is her… seventh critics award? There’s no way she’s more deserving than Blanchett. At least Cate won 2nd prize.
Best Original Screenplay - I can’t get enough of Cody’s love. My favourite screenplay of the year is racking up these awards. I’m loving it. I’m also very glad to see Tamara get 2nd prize here. Her screenplay was great as well. Yay for these two new women!
Best Adapted Screenplay - The only interesting thing about this category is the fact that Atonement got it’s first ‘recognition’ in any category. Even then, No Country for Old Men won the prize. So really, it’s nothing to get worked up over.
Best Documentary - Well, well, well. No End in Sight and Sicko? Couldn’t of seen that coming at all… Oh well, yay for Moore and yay for war!
Best Foreign Feature - Two french films get recognized here… neither are France’s submittal to the Academy? Wowie! This really gives people insight into the category. Totally… haha
Best Animated Feature - Cool, cool. Ratatouille is going to win; we all knew that. It’s neat to see The Simpsons Movie get 2nd place. It’s either been Ratatouille or Persepolis. I think that after this - if the film can keep up getting a few mentions - this film is in for the third spot.
Wyatt Award - Don’t really get the whole point of this award, but I like it. Waitress and Black Snake Moan are two of the most underrated, interesting films of the year. I’m glad to see that these critics mentioned both of these films. Both have great leading female performances. Both have interesting concepts. Both are beautiful… in their own way.
