My analysis on these awards.

Best Picture - Yay. No Country for Old Men. My favourite film of the year. So glad it won.

Best Actor in a Leading Role - George Clooney didn’t impress me in Michael Clayton, so this win comes as kind of a disappointment. The years biggest precursor delivers a very disappointing win, in this, the biggest acting category.

Best Actress in a Leading Role - I still need to see this film. I hear praises among praises for her. Hopefully I am not disappointed. Sadly, I doubt she will crack my top five.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role - I am very glad Affleck won this. He needs more support to get a nomination. This may of clinched it for him. I am ever so pleased.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role - A good performance, yes. A performance worthy of acclaim… no. This category tends to disappointment year after year with it’s winners, so it’s pointless to expect my favourites to win. Can’t say she deserved it, but a better choice than Ruby Dee or Kelly Macdonald.

Best Director - An original choice that may make all nay sayers say ‘hey…’. Burton’s work on this film looks to be some of his most original to date. We can only hope for the best.

Best Original Screenplay - I loved Juno’s screenplay. So of course I’m happy it won, seeing as how it’s my winner. The choice of tying it with a film that seems to be very underrated was also sweet to see. Best luck to the two of them.

Best Adapted Screenplay - As much as I loved the movie, No Country for Old Men does not win in this category for me. Though it gets a high spot in my list, it would’ve been nicer to see a ’smaller’ film get this big win.

Best Foreign Language Film - An interesting choice… Sadly, it isn’t eligible for Best Foreign Feature, so this doesn’t help us predictors in the least.

Best New Director - Ben Affleck! My choice for this category, as well as my choice for Best Director. The more wins he gets in these ‘newcomer’ picks may skyrocket him to a nomination. Yay!

Breakthrough Male of the Year - A good choice. There are a few people I’d rank above him, but it’s nice to see the star of ‘The Girl Next Door’ coming into his own. I wish the best of luck to him and his Best Actor campaign.

Breakthrough Female of the Year - Honestly, who didn’t see this coming? Lovable little Page. The predictors darling. Oh, how I loathe the fact that she won over Cotillard.

Best Animated Feature - Ratatouille? Win? HA! That was probably the most obvious win of these awards. I can’t say I didn’t love it. A great film. Hopefully it wins.
